Petey Greene is one bad mutha...*shut yo mouth*...but I'm talkn' 'bout Petey Green?!



Earlier tonight I watched a doc on Independent Lens about Petey Greene. I wasn't that familiar with him before tonight but the guy's just amazing. He went from a life of drug addiction and crime to become a major media personality/community activist in Washington DC. He was really confrontational and in-your-face but, at the same time, came off as the wacky black uncle I never had. Really compelling stuff.

yeah, I saw the movie about him with Don Cheadle a few months back - "Talk to Me" - it was really good, and I'm surprised that I didn't hear about it in theaters.

I'm going to try and rent it tonight. The name sounds vaguely familiar but I don't remember it in theaters either. This is Ohio though, we aren't exactly a mecca for indie film making

I watched the same doc with a friend the other night. Its amazong how little people even myself knew/know about him. I zhad heard of the movie and never saw it but, after watching the doc I think it would let me down. I am sure that Hollywood in all its drugs sex and glory wouldnt potray him as he was
