About Me

I'm a writer, but I make more money as a psychiatric nurse. My wife Angel is a Nurse Practitioner.

Places that feel like home include: Ohio, Seattle, New Zealand, Tacoma, and the PCT. Some day I'd like to invest in making Mexico feel more like home as well, and the Canadian Rockies.

I'm the author of a few books. The most successful one is called The Dirtbag's Guide to Life: Eternal Truth for Hiker Trash, Ski Bums, and Vagabonds.

The newest one is I Hope I Was Wrong About Eternal Damnation: An Absolutely True Memoir. People seem to like it.

I’ve also done these other things:

Grit City Magazine

Podcasts

Angel and I spent 4 years creating the Boldly Went Podcast

We also wrote and produced the 2019 Race to Alaska Daily Fix Podcast

I was featured on the Cascade Hiker Podcast

...and in a moment of brief glory on the popular Art of Manliness Podcast

My personal priorities are:

Carving out a good life.

Empathy.

Having adventures.

Going to beautiful places.

Writing about things when I feel like it.

Making enough money to pay for the above.
