(can't think of a title)
It's raining (grey season is back in Seattle), the economy is crumbling, I lost my job this week, and I still feel like I have too much on my plate. Oddly, however, I'm in a generally good mood today. Due to the lost job, unexpected breathing room is on the horizon and I'm excited about this:
Conspiracy1, a party/concert/event I'm helping to organize and MCing next Friday. (Although you'll be disappointed to hear not that kind of MCing.) If you're in the Seattle area, come. We've got The Lonely Forest--a genuinely good indie band--and Scott Erickson, a nationally known artist who, like Bob Ross, produces his paintings before your very eyes. We've also got a DJ coming up from Portland, food and drinks, and a good cause. Should be sweet.
We also had some positive developments on the employment front yesterday, because Angel has now landed her first job as a Nurse Practitioner at a local community health clinic called The Country Doctor. It's exactly what she wanted, so great news and a nice consolation prize after the layoff.
I, on the other hand (and partly as a consequence) will be taking a little bit of time off during the October hours that would have been filled by Multifaith. I may do some dummy work over the holidays, but for now I'm going to focus on ordination preparation and projects, and I'm going to give a significant chunk of time to trying to produce a first draft of the book I keep bringing up here. I'm about 15,000 words in now, and am shooting for at least 80,000. I might be able to do a significant part of that in a month or so of 20 hour weeks. We shall see. What the Hell. Might as well take a swipe at something I've always wanted to do. I'm visioning it as a sort of personal narrative theology: a self-indulgent exposition on what I've come to believe and why in the course of my short and insignificant life, as one example of the personal experiences that have given rise to emerging Christians.
