Pictures from the weekend, as promised.

Over the weekend Angel and I tried to take advantage of the fading days of Summer by going to the Olympic Peninsula and hanging out for our last long weekend before school and work start back up. These first three photos are at Hurricane Ridge--a beautiful spot in Olympic National Park. Not much hiking for us b/c of Angel's glued-on toe. Just some shots from the bunny trail. I really like the first photo, taken by some guy who knows more about taking pictures than I do. As an interesting side note, the winter Olympics in 2010 will be in nearby Vancouver, BC, and the Games demagogues have tried to take the 'Olympic' name away from the locals on the Peninsula--trying to force local businesses to stop using it, change business names, etc. ahead of their advertising push. I think the compromise has been that local wineries, businesses, etc. can't market their stuff in Canada in the lead-up to the Games. Yea sports!

These final two photos were taken at Fort Flagler State Park in Port Townsend, just before the Midwest intensity rain set in. There aren't any more photos, because it isn't very interesting to take pictures of yourself sitting in a motel room watching television hoping that the rain will stop. The Peninsula is still one of my favorite places though. If I was going to live in the small-town US, it would probably be Port Angeles or Port Townsend. In case you were wondering. The area makes us feel nostalgic for New Zealand, as did the hills around San Francisco.

Yeah, we thought about going to St. Paul's. We were at Ft. Flagler at the time though, enjoying our last moments of dry weather :) I'll do my best to get there next time we're in the area.
