Favorite Quote

Martin Luther is quoted as saying something along the lines of "The Church is a Whore, but She's my Mother". Great saying. You have to be thick skinned to be a Christian, but much thicker skinned to be a member of the Church.

luther also said that reason is a whore when discussing the relationship between faith and reason.
of course maybe 'church' and 'reason' were nicknames for some of his friends down at the local brothel...
but probably not.

Luther was more into the whore analogy than most, it seems.
